WebNov 15, 2012 · One of the things I heard on this was using the hot water was better because as you heat the water up it tends to drop out base minerals into the Hot water tank, so you end up with less scale and sediment in your humidifier. "the furnace does not DRY out the air, it raises the temperature of the air so that now the air can hold more humidity. Basically 50 degree air at 50% humidity heated to 70 degree will now have a lower humidity level due to the fact that warmer air can hold more humidity than cooler air.
